Weddings
You’re getting married! Congratulations!
The planning of your wedding is one of life’s happiest occasions and we are pleased you have selected the Jamesville Community Church for your ceremony.
Here is some information that you will need to know:
MEETING THE PASTOR
The prospective bride and groom should meet with the pastor well in advance of the wedding. They should feel free to discuss any matters concerning them. Please know that all discussions are strictly confidential to the three of you. A pastor is a professional person and you should feel at ease with him/her.
MARRIAGE LICENSE
Proof of age or divorce papers may be required when you apply for your marriage license. This may take time, so do not put off getting your marriage license until the last minute. Contact any New York State Village, Town, or City Clerk for details.
NOTE: The Marriage License should be given to the Pastor at the Rehearsal.
ORGANIST
Arrangements for an organist and other music are made by the bride and groom. The pastor will give you the name of our organist. You will need to contact him/her soon to make arrangements.
REHEARSAL
It is customary to have the wedding rehearsal on the eve of the wedding, however, other arrangements may be made for the convenience of the wedding party. This is arranged with the pastor. Please make sure that members of the wedding party are present on time. With informal weddings, a rehearsal may not be necessary. This is up to the discretion of the bride and groom and pastor.
HAVING ANOTHER PASTOR
If you have a family pastor who is presently located in another parish and you would like him/her to perform the service, it is proper protocol to contact the pastor of the Jamesville Community Church FIRST and allow him/her to contact the other pastor and make arrangements. It is important to understand that the use of the sanctuary of the church by another pastor is at the discretion of the appointed pastor here.
PICTURES AND VIDEO CAMERAS
The use of flash during the ceremony can be disruptive, as can photographers walking around the sanctuary during the ceremony. Photographers or Video operators in the altar area are even more disruptive. If you are having an amateur photographer or video operator record your ceremony, ask them to attend the rehearsal. The pastor can give them some good advice. This way, your ceremony will be beautifully recorded – without the photographers interfering in the ceremony itself.
FEES
A donation of $100 would be appreciated for the use of the sanctuary.
The pastor’s fee is $150.
Contributing members need not pay the church donation or the pastor’s fee. Their generosity already contributes toward the church building and pastor’s compensation.
The custodian’s fee is $40.
The organist’s fee is to be decided between you and the organist.
The custodian’s fee and organist’s fee should be paid by everyone (members and non-members alike).
Please keep the fees SEPARATE (separate checks or cash), since it goes to several different places. The names of the pastor, organist and custodian are below.
Note: Please bring all fees with you the night of the Wedding Rehearsal.
